QHSE Coordinator

An exciting opportunity for a QHSE coordinator has arisen with a large, high profile proprietary chemical supplier to the metal finishing industry.
Day to day you will provide guidance and advice to Department Managers, Colleagues and Customers to meet the client’s HSEQ standards and objectives.
Responsibilities will include:

  • Maintenance of ISO9001 and ISO14001 Quality Management System
  • Supporting the management team in developing the strategic and operational QHSE plans, targets and objectives to drive continuous improvement
  • Providing expert QHSE advice to support the Company to ensure compliance with their legal duties to employees, contractors and Customers.
  • Proactively managing and leading the QHSE by setting, monitoring and reviewing performance targets and objectives
  • Liaison with Suppliers and Corporate on all QHSE matters
  • Liaising with HSE and Environmental Agency
  • Day to day safety activities
  • Co-ordination of site Health and Safety training programmes for both colleagues.
  • Issuing of permits to work certificates
  • Maintain and update Risk assessments
  • Maintenance of MSDS filing system
  • Monitor / investigate / record accidents and near misses to Corporate and RIDDOR
  • Production of TREM cards for 3rd party suppliers
  • Knowledge of REACH
  • Product Stewardship activities
  • Liaison with Toll manufacture & Third party WHSE

The successful candidate will have:
  • • Experience in the implementation and maintenance of ISO 14001, ISO 9001 accreditation / Management System
  • Excellent communication skills and demonstrable experience in a customer facing role
  • Self motivated with Strong QHSE skill base and be able to motivate, influence and lead by example
  • Good knowledge of SAP & Excel would be advantage
  • A proven track record of achievement within a similar strategic role in the chemical industry.

Ultrasonically enabled Low Temperature Immersion and Electroless Metallisation (ULTIEMet)

The Sonochemistry Centre at Coventry University is a centre of excellence for ultrasonic research recognised across the World. The Innovative electronic Manufacturing Research Centre (IeMRC) is funding an exciting and novel research project at the Sonochemistry Centre to investigate the use of ultrasound to enable low temperature electroless and immersion plating on printed circuit boards (PCBs) and photovoltaics (PVs).

This high profile project will provide the successful candidate with the opportunity to work within a World renowned applied research group. The project consortium consists of commercial and industrial partners from across the UK and Europe and there will be opportunities for travel. This combination of industrial and academic experience will be invaluable for a career in high value manufacturing.

The Research Assistant will work within the Materials Group at the Sonochemistry Centre and must have a BSc in chemistry, materials science or related subject. A good knowledge and understanding of sonochemistry/ultrasound and/or electrochemistry and metallisation processes would be advantageous but is not essential as training and support will be given. They will perform sample preparation, carry out analysis using a variety of equipment, and undertake laboratory experiments under the supervision of the Principal Investigator and other members of the research team.

The research assistant will also be expected to participate in the wide range of projects within the Materials Group as well as contributing to the submission of funding bids with support from the Head of the Materials Group.

Southern Region Sales Manager - Sifco

Sifco Applied Surface Concepts are leaders in the field of Selective Electroplating and specialise in the enhancement, refurbishment and maintenance of metal components within the Aerospace industry, the Oil & Gas Industry, the Power Generation Industry and many others. We are an ambitious growth orientated and profitable organisation and wish to support continued growth by appointing a Southern Region Sales Manager.

Reporting directly to the Office Sales Manager, the successful candidate will be expected to grow the sales within the region in line with the company’s expectations by making contact with existing and potential customers.

Essential Job Functions:
  • Visits to customers to obtain enquiries for SIFCOs’ range of products utilising any necessary resources such as existing customers, business directories, sales referrals, internet etc. Specifically targeting, but not limited to, contract manufacturing sales.
  • Raise quotations for customers in your region for all requirements including solutions, consumables, contract work and equipment against any relevant specification. Interpret specifications, blueprints, customer requirements and work orders to provide for costing and process information for the completion of accurate quotes. Follow up and close quotations as soon as possible. Ensure quotation log is kept up to date.
  • Liaise with Workshop Supervisor and/or Production Manager to plan and prioritise sub-contract work to support priorities and schedules.
  • Confer with relevant personnel to determine status of open work orders. Ensure the customer is kept up to date with the progress of the work.
  • When necessary, establish and maintain liaison with customer representatives and resolve any technical/schedule issues that arise prior, during, and after plating operations.
  • Set a regional budget in line with the company growth targets and exceed this budget.
  • Achieve targets and goals as set at any time by your line Manager to assist in achieving the company’s objectives.
  • Complete all reports as requested at any time by your Line Manager

Essential Job Requirements:
Three to five years related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret customer requirements furnished in written or oral form including; diagrams, blueprints, technical drawings, scope of work documents, quality specifications and standards. Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

Salary will depend upon experience. The position is also commission based and there are other benefits such as pension and death in service benefit. The position also has a company car supplied with a fuel card, along with a mobile phone and laptop.
